What is User testing of package leaflet?

User Testing is a process which helps Pharmaceutical companies to find out if ordinary people can read and understand the leaflets which come in the pack with medicines.

As a service company who works for the pharmaceutical industry, one of the services we offer is User Testing of Package leaflets.

All our work is office and paper based. We do not handle any medicines ourselves, just work with and interpret data.

Our panel
We need to have a very large list of people from a wide cross-section of the general public. Different types of people are required on different occasions depending on the type of leaflet that is being tested.

Existing members of the User Testing panel have all filled in a registration form to help us call in the right people for each project. We can never have too many people on our list, so you are welcome to apply to join our panel.

What will happen in the test?
Our friendly interviewer will explain everything to you when you arrive.
You will be shown a Patient Information Leaflet and the interviewer will ask you approximately 15 questions about the leaflet while you enjoy a cup of tea and some biscuits. We are not testing your knowledge or memory, we just want to know if the information is easy to read and understand. The interview will last 30-45 minutes.

What happens to the results?
We make a note of all your comments and write a report based on them. This report helps the pharmaceutical company improve the leaflet you have read. When the leaflet is finalised the report goes to the Regulatory Authority as evidence that members of the general public have been consulted in the preparation of the Patient Information Leaflet.

Where and when does it take place?

Most of our User Tests take place in our offices at Compass Point Business Park in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, so it is useful if you can get there at some time between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
However, we sometimes have different venues and times, so you can still register even if you can't get to Compass Point during office hours - just make a note on your form to let us know.

Who can register?
You must be over 18 and able to read English.
You don't need any special skills or experience to take part. We are particularly interested in people who find written information difficult.
Members of the medical profession cannot register.

Will I get paid?
You will be reimbursed generously for your expenses - for more information please contact us.

Our privacy policy
The information you provide on your registration form is used only to make sure that we call in different kinds of people.

We store your data securely as required by the Data Protection Act and do not pass it on to anyone else. We include some information (e.g. age, gender) in our reports, to show the range of people interviewed, but nothing is included that identifies you, for example your name and address etc.

How to register?
Please call 01480 465755 for a form to be sent to you, or if you need any more information.
